Fan Tattoos
Often, there is a fine line between fan tattoos and brand tattoos. After all, many people choose to wear a brand tattoo because they are fans of a particular brand. Fan tattoos are not just limited to brands, however, as many choose to display images of their favorite musicians, actors, and athletes.
Yet others have tattoos of their favorite teams or bands placed on their bodies.
Brand Tattoos as Fan Tattoos
If you choose to have a brand tattoo placed on your body because you really enjoy a certain product, it may also be considered a fan tattoo. For example, you may be a huge fan of the comic strip Peanuts and, therefore, you choose to have a tattoo of Snoopy, Woodstock, or Charlie Brown tattooed on you. These images are, indeed, brand images. But, you may choose to add them to your body because you relate to these characters or because they invoke special memories and you are, quite simply, a fan of the comic strip and its characters.
Fan Tattoos in the Form of Images of Famous People
Many fan tattoos are also in the form of images of famous people or celebrities. Popular fan tattoos of this type are tattoos of musicians such as Jim Morrison or Kurt Cobaine. The images may also be of actors, athletes, and even philosophers. These fan tattoos often not only demonstrate your loyalty to these famous people, they are also a reflection of who you are. Generally, those who choose to have an image of a famous person tattooed to their bodies are demonstrating that they relate to this person in some way and, therefore, that person represents some aspect of their personality.
Musical Band Tattoos as Fan Tattoos
Every band has its own logo, perhaps even a new one for each album released. Tattoos of the logos of bands are another type of brand tattoo that crosses over to the fan tattoo realm. For many, music is a deeply personal experience and a form of self-expression. Placing a tattoo of a band’s logo on your body is a way to show others what type of person you are and to express your loyalty to a particular band and a specific genre of music. For many, it is also a way to demonstrate loyalty to a certain group of people, as many bands have what is considered to be a cult-like following. These bands are the ones that tend to have their logos tattooed the most.
Sports Lovers Fan Tattoos
Sports tattoos are another popular form of fan tattoos. Most sports enthusiasts are intensely loyal to their teams and their players. To demonstrate this loyalty, they may have the team logo tattooed on their bodies. Once again, this is an area where brand tattoos and fan tattoos cross lines. Sports lovers may also tattoo the name of an athlete to their bodies. Some have even been known to have an athlete sign their bodies, then have the signature permanently inked to their bodies.
